1965

Foundation of KIN as “Konserveninstitut Neumünster e.V.”

1969

Establishment of the technical school for canned food, state approval in 1970

1976

Transfer into the new building in Wasbeker Straße 

1978

Organization of the first European symposium within the scope of the advent of the European Single Market and renaming to the “Professional School for Food Technicians”

1979

Establishment of the department “Research and Development” 

1980 

Establishment of the department “Quality Assurance” 

1981

Start of the first research project 

1982

First training for foreign participants over several months 

1993

Foundation of EFI (European Food Institutes) by KIN 

1994

Accreditation of KIN Quality Assurance as a test laboratory 

1996

Renaming to “KIN Food Institute” 

2001

New vocational training focus “state-certified food technician/food service” 

2002

KIN is awarded the sponsor prize of the Foundation “Golden Sugar Loaf” 

2005

Redesign of the technical school, hostel and canteen.  Erection of a new seminar building (6. expansion building) 

2008

Foundation of KIN GmbH as a subsidiary of the KIN Food Institute with the service departments, Quality Assurance and Food Processes

2009

Cooperation agreement with the Indian partner institute NAFARI in Pune

Certification of the KIN Professional School for Food Technicians according to DIN ISO 9001:2000 and AZWV (the standard for the approval of training programs and training systems in Germany).

2010

Start of the FoodWeb 2.0 project: Development of an interactive learning platform for the food industry

2011

Start as Center of Studies of the Steinbeis Business Academy SBA with the bachelor study course “Food Technology and Product Management”
