New KIN cooperation partner: NAFARI from Pune, India
The National Agriculture and Food Analysis and Research Institute (NAFARI), Pune, India, and the KIN Food Institute, Neumünster, Germany, signed a cooperation agreement at the end of October 2009. The initial contact was made with the support of the WTSH - Business Development and Technology Transfer Cooperation of Schleswig-Holstein. NAFARI’s director Vinay Oswak and Rolf Hornig, head of the KIN Food Institute, confirmed their intention to work closely together on issues regarding the requirements of the respective food and packaging markets. Members and customers of both institutes shall benefit from the exchange of knowledge, for example for the import and export of their products.
The organizational structure of NAFARI is similar to the one of the KIN. It offers its member companies services such as food analyses, further training and education, advice and guidance in food technology and legal issues. It is an independent institute that also operates an ISO/IEC 17025 certified laboratory.
The first cooperation with the KIN is already underway. A member company of NAFARI is testing the German consumers’ acceptance of typical Indian seasoning mixes such as “Indian Curry” in meat dishes at the KIN.
